So my offer is pending acceptance, and what's left is an inspection. Out of all the major appliances in the household, the washer/dryer were not replaced. I believe they are original Maytag units, probably around 18 years old, but may be less than that.

I recall seeing the Maytag washer/dryer with something "commercial grade" on the label. Not sure if it means anything to you. Any point in replacing them? I would prefer something that is stackable (but not necessary) and more energy efficient. Could you offer a few recommendations? (Please no Samsung haha) Let's leave budget out of the question for now.
If you don't need to have the latest and the greatest, I would keep the Maytag. For the dryer, if it isn't too fancy, it would likely last forever. Yeah, it's probably not that efficient, but I recall doing the math years ago to determine whether it was worth buying a new washing machine. Yes, a new machine is much more efficient (much, much more) than my old machine, but what does that mean in real dollars, based on the electricity rates at the time that only meant a savings of $50 or so per year. If that new machine costs $1k, I would need to use it for 20 years before I realize any real savings; a new machine might not even last that long. That old machine, it still works great!

It's akin to people buying a new Tesla, not because they need a new car, but to save on gas! Okay, you save $2k per year in gas, but you just spent $40-50k out of pocket on the new car.

If you want a new set, that's a different story.
