I don't "need" a new washer/dryer. I want a new set in order to make room to build a powder room beside the laundry room; the current set is not stackable. If I could stack them, this wouldn't be so much a want or need.

Completely understand the cost savings and amortization of the upfront cost of the new washer/dryer - I totally get it. But I don't know the condition of it, and whether it's worth keeping. I don't plan on being at this place for more than 3 - 4 years, 5 max. New appliances will go a long way for resale.
