Regarding burrs, I would say you will see a noticeable change/improvement with burr alignment and geometry from light roasted espresso beans. I could attest to this when I changed my mazzer SJ burrs to SSP reds.

Hmm interesting. Where did you buy your SSP burrs? Any distributors that have it for cheaper? I'll need to read a bit more about SSP burrs and the different combinations (high vs low uniformity vs different coatings) first...
