I don't know... like... insurance covers the cost of their car..................... and they chose not to buy optional coverage for a rental car so that's on them. How many other people are "screwed" out there because they didn't buy extra insurance and whatnot but didn't have a social media campaign behind them?

The systems are already in place to make sure they are squared up through ICBC replacing their vehicle and their injury claims which are going to cost all of us hundreds of thousands of dollars through ICBC payouts anyway. It seems an odd choice to suddenly decide these people are so needy compared to who knows how many other causes are out there to support. Cuz it's trendy in the news at the time?

The whole idea of these sort of campaigns are just weird to me / leave a bad taste in my mouth. It's like a bizarre melding of self-gratification and a popularity contest. Just randomly choosing people who had shitty days to give them a lottery win without even knowing if they have legitimate difficulties or not...
