Looking at previous stats, that same age bracket, the number is probably 40-50 times that for cancer this year.
I'm not saying this thing isn't nasty if you get a severe case. I know of several people who've gotten it bad. But there are much more fatal and prevalent illnesses (like cancer) for people in that age group.

Yes, and between covid and cancer, one can be mitigated by taking certain actions, and avoiding other activities. Also you can help prevent other people from getting it. And only one has the potential to rapidly spread across a population, overcrowding and shutting down hospitals in a bad enough scenario.
