Had a manual MK7.5 Golf R for 8 months.
The ACC worked well, didn't use it often besides trips across the boarder but it did slow down the car to keep the set distance and you don't really worry about gears because you're in 6th. I never had to have it slam on the brakes for me. What was super annoying is the lane assist, if you didn't signal it would try to pull you back in the lane you're changing from. Super annoying for previous BMW owners who don't know how to signal.
