Side note, I test drove a Veloster N. Designed by the same guy who designed the E46 M3, I can say, the car is a riot!
1. The trunk button is dumb. It's integrated into the rear wiper blade - I couldn't even find it without the sales person. There's no trunk button inside the car. The trunk is dumb. It's a small opening but it's deep.
2. No ACC. Big con for a dual duty.
3. If I had my payout I probably would have bought it as an impulse buy.
4. Launching it without launch control kinda sucks. It doesn't build boost, so it kinda lugs.
5. The brakes are pretty good.
6. I haven't tried Golf R yet, but I imagine it would be a lot more refined or boring. The N is very brash and in your face. The off throttle cracks is nuts. I tried beating the computer in revmatching, no can do, computer revmatches sound crispy af - even into 1st. The materials in the N are nicer than the Golf R. (I really don't like the soft touch crap)
7. Suspension in N mode is stiff as fuck. I was literally bouncing in my seat.
8. Car in N mode/sport mode/normal mode is Cain magnet loud.
9. Seats are decent. It's basic, but no complaints with pain and such. No rear headroom. Fits me but it's still tight, I have maybe a hand gap of head room and I'm 5'8". Getting into the rear seats suck, BMW (e46) did it much better.
10. Torque steer in 1st is nuts. Would not recommend flooring it in 1st. 1st is basically unusable. I did manage to get the car to oversteer at around 5-6K rpm in 2nd. It has passing power without having to downshift, I never had to second guess a pass. Defs peppy.
11. Gearbox was very satisfying, very crisp and smooth. None of that crappy BMW crunchy shit.
12. Rear window visibility is non existent.
