Adding to that, a lot of the customs in government seem to be based on tradition and some level of respect and decorum, and not explicitly documented for every situation; things like the supreme court justice nomination, the peaceful transition of power, etc.

Rightful or not, Republicans have bullied and pushed their agenda past far past these customs with complete disregard for tradition and history.

Like when you see a mom letting her kid piss into a mall garbage can in public. Sure there was no sign that says to not piss into public garbage cans, but should there really need to be one?

And now that those traditions have been broken, who knows how far future politicians will push them. Meanwhile traditional democrats are following these unspoken traditions (or it could be seen as being too sensitive to not punching down), that the are just letting this happen.
