There's the definition for you. In case you aren't seeing the difference, it's a term shaped by its own culture to have a certain connotation, albeit negative. What it isn't is a word made up by an external culture to systemically degrade and vilify a certain demographic. Is it endearing? No. Is it racist? Also no. Is the n-word racist? Absolutely yes.
