My wife’s grandfather passed a few years ago, he stayed at a care home in Kerrisdale IIRC. It was quite nice, private room but it was $8,000 a month. I think the only reason he was there was the family was fighting over money/assets and the son who had PoA just said “fuck you all, you don’t deserve his money. HE does” and spent it all on a great care home
