That was many years ago. Japanese ports cars are dying today because no one is really buying them anymore. If sports cars were selling like hot cakes and was a money maker, everyone would be pumping them out. Cost of living is high, big move to SUV/Cross overs, Hybrids etc.
Making two is bonkers in today's climate when a regular Carmy in your lineup with make you 10000X more money. There is reason why the STI/Z has stayed the same for so many years. They don't make money and cost a shit load to redesign when your investors are looking for return on their money.
