On a different note, is there a guide that someone would recommend on how to adjust your super espresso machine?
I know there aren't too much tinkering involve, but it would be nice if I can at least make the drinks taste a bit more better.

From my short experience with a Saeco super-auto at work, I suggest sticking with medium/dark to dark roast. The built in grinder and pump pressure with most super-autos are not made for light roast.
In terms of grind setting, once you adjust the setting, the first 2-3 shots won't come out well because of residual grinds from the previous setting.
