That's a whole lot of what ifs, and a whole lot of assumptions. Sure that's possible, but it's far more likely they'd just check every white car on the street and see which doesn't have a stock exhaust tip before ringing the doorbell.
There's far more plausible scenarios so freaking out over a bunch of what ifs based on a couple lines from the dude with the obnoxious FRS seems a bit much.
For all we know his dad reported it cause he's sick of it too.
