I've seen some friend's rings where they're 1-1.5 carats but the quality is garbage. You can tell they just want a big rock on their finger to show off. Things like lack of sparkle or being able to visually see the inclusions on the diamond are a big yikes for me.

Take the extra time to watch a couple Youtube videos to learn about Cut/Clarity/etc
Also, walk into a couple stores (not sure if some are even open) and just ask to look at some rings and gauge sizing and learn more about it. I think it's always best to see it in person and see what your throwing thousands at...
