I agree, I know in the case of my wife she's content with her Government job and her Govt. Pension however I guarantee if she went into the private sector her salary would double over night for the job she does and the size of team she manages.
We don't pay guys that much less to sweep construction sites, it's criminal lol.
Edit: last year I made 80% more than my wife did but she does have a pension and I do not whatever that's worth. To be fair I also worked two jobs, my day job and subcontracting estimating services on the side for others on weekends and evenings.
