Insurance itself, maybe. But we also have to pay registration fee based on the size of the engine of the car yearly. Also for older cars like mine we get the government inspection each year (kinda like the old aircare mixed with mandatory VI)

That is true, for the first years they came out in HK they were basically tax free since the government was pushing for EVs. After 2018? You have to pay tax but the tax is dramatically reduced and also you need a traditional ICE to trade in
Interesting tibit from my car groups here; this was the total amount of new vehicles registered in April 2021. Teslas obviously sell liek hotcakes here at #1, whats interesting is Benz is #2 and BM is #3 even in this economy, trumping Toyota #4 (even with all the ALphards and Hiaces) and Honda #5.
