I'm for actual science and logic, not politically driven bullshit from hypocrites. I'm actually for a stronger mask mandate if you're going to have one. Mandatory medical grade masks that at least have a seal and provide some filtration. N95's would be a start then the mask mandate may actually do something. N95's filter down to 0.3 microns but COVID particles are as small as 0.1. At least there's a chance.
These cloth masks everyone's wearing with cute bunnies and bedazzled jewels and tassels on them don't do a thing but stop the largest of droplets; they're a placebo measure. They don't seal, they don't filter, and they're equivalent to wearing your t-shirt over your nose. If you don't believe it go stand in a walk in freezer if you can and breathe, and see how much water vapor comes through and around your mask. That's just the part of the exhale you can see. As previously stated there's a reason you're not allowed to wear them in hospitals, clinics, etc. I'm surprised this has to be recognized,
again. I wear an ATSM III mask everywhere I'm supposed to knowing it's just a splash guard.
At first a real mask mandate wasn't possible but the Gov has had over a year to get better PPE and they haven't done a thing. In fact they gave away 16 tonnes of it to China and got nothing in return. Printing money to produce or procure them would have cost less than keeping people alive in hospitals and would have actually reduced transmissions. But common sense isn't a strong point of our governments at any level these days.
The passports are still divisive, segregating, discriminatory against the genuinely medically exempt, and will prove to be worthless against transmission but socially costly. Looks like we may already be rounding the peak of the fourth wave (fingers crossed).
