With regard to Afghanistan, most their population is young, but they also haven't really done any testing, 500k tests since covid began, for a population of 40million!

People who die/died were just assumed to be ill and of poor health, of those tested, up until the return of the taliban, 42% were covid positive

Since the mass "rescue" of talented Afghans, there's been a void of skilled workers, so I imagine the testing rate has plummeted
