I think the logistics of travel is more of a deterrent than actually catching omicron. If you went somewhere and that place locked things down, you're up Schitt's creek ... extra hotel stay, working feverishly to find alternative way home, stress, $$$, etc. Then you call Canadian embassy and they say, 'told you so', and can't find you a way home .. now that part may not be worth the week in the sun.
As what reports indicate, it doesn't seem like it comes with very serious symptoms especially if you have double vaccination.
