Modern engines are amazing. Just like my old focus ST there is no issue filling up with 87, but with reduced performance and you won’t hit factory rated numbers. Nothing will blow up, nothing will disintegrate. Though of course 91+ is what I’d be running in it daily.

As for the break in, the lot guys/boat staff/train unloaders have already done that for you. The point of break in is to mate the piston rings tonthe crosshatch of new cylinder walls. Cycling through the rpm range is important
