In the bigger picture, whether it dramatically affects your engine or not having 87 as your first tank of gas is secondary. I can be a bit of a prick when it comes to things like this ... brand new car >$35-40K ... I expect things to be perfect. Or at least dumb human errors avoided. This would REALLY piss me off. It is so simple and basic that no salesperson worth his salt should get it wrong.
