Not looking for full EV at the moment - its for my parents and they would not want the full-tech dashboards like in the ioniq 5, EV6 or Teslas. They currently have a 2019 X5 - urged them to trade it in before warranty ends (and with inflated used car prices). Almost getting what we paid for it 2 years ago.
Alternatives:
- Thinking about the Lexus NX350H or 450H as well. Extra $10k for quality interior.
- Hyundai Tucson / CRV - Hyundai was nice, however buttons were digital, and I would think resale is better on the Toyota if they ever wanted to change vehicles down the road.
In summary, criteria:
- Hard / tactile buttons for climate control
- Sub $50k
- Crossover/SUV for the height
- Hybrid or EV. good MPG
- Willing to go down from BMW x5 in terms of quality.

Going from a X5 to Rav4 would be a HUGE downgrade. It's fine if they are all city drivers, but if they do a lot of highway driving, I wouldn't recommend it. The touch points are fine but the Rav4 is NOISY on the highway.
Plus, I don't think the current BMWs are that bad in terms of reliability as long as you don't have a V8.
