As per murd0c's reply, it would be a war between NATO and Russia if crazy ass Putin decides to attack an Eastern European country that is part of NATO.
Any attack on a country that is part of NATO is an attack on NATO. Countries in NATO are bound by Article 5 of the NATO treaty to fight back against the aggressor:
The article, as the cornerstone of a treaty signed in 1949, establishes solidarity among member states and has been invoked only once. Article 5 is the cornerstone of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and states that an attack on one member of NATO is an attack on all of its members.
Shit would really hit the fan at that point if Russia attacks a U.S. cargo plane or planes carrying weapons for Ukraine.
