Those are valid concerns, to clarify when we inspected the driveshaft that my buddy fried the boot was long gone so that joint was going to fail soon no matter what. I've never broken anything offroad but part of why I switched to a cheap WJ was because I didn't want to have to worry about it. This whole Jeep cost me less than just a replacement transfer case for my old one.
Being stranded can be avoided by traveling with another vehicle and always telling someone where you're going and when you should be back. I used Gaia GPS on my phone to log the route so I could always backtrack, we took it fairly easy but because we were exploring random offshoots we were never more than maybe 5km from a nice FSR or 10km from the pavement which isn't a terrible walk. Funny enough we did pass a broken down side by side on the first trail and then a little while later passed a side by side going the other way and they asked if we'd seen the broken one because they were looking for it
