re: Strollers, once you're past the first year with the jumbo strollers I would recommend a look at the Uppababy Minu which is a nice mix of small and large stroller. Fits in overhead compartments but has more capacity than most small strollers but is way smaller than the typical jumbo strollers.
We're not outdoorsy so the small wheels don't affect us at all.
