My sister in law had a brain tumour in her 30s and my brother in law's fiance is currently recovering from breast cancer (she's also in her 30s).
Bad luck on my wife's side of the family? Maybe, but these serve as a reminders for me personally to have a bit of fun when you can because life can be "nasty, brutish, and short."
But in the end, Gerbs, you need to ask yourself if you're planning to share your life with someone else? Because if you aren't, you have already set yourself up for a very good life for the next several decades. You don't need much more to enjoy life as a single person, even in a place as expensive as the Lower Mainland.. unless you aspire to own a detached house to carry on your own.
