Haha they all do it at some point, right around when they can stand on their own is when they start to teeth - though some kids apparently do it more than others. They specifically make "crib rail covers", which are just fabrics that you tie onto the edges to prevent this, I think there are silicone ones as well.

If you bought a crib from a reputable manufacturer/source, then the paint should be safe; but we went through the same thing and bought something like this: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.ca/stor...ib-rail-covers

FWIW ours ate a shit ton of paint and probably some wood while she was teething and she's fine.
