Crime is a function of an angry society. Inequality is probably the biggest contributor to an angry society, yet the “tough on crime” folks never want to acknowledge that.
You aren’t scaring people into being good. It’s the same concept as religion and we’ve seen how well that is keeping people caring and empathetic in the good old U S of A.
It’s all doom and gloom here and it’s only going to get worse until people are actually given a hand out of poverty and desperation instead of just talking about it like the liberals do, or saying fuck it like the cons do. Not to mention the goalposts for happiness and success are fucked now due to social media and regular media alike.

I think eventually when you’re releasing people back into society who perform violent crime on a daily basis with literally DOZENS of felony convictions, society is better with those people gone for good, or dead.
Many of these people are long past rehabilitation. Someone with 500 documented police interactions isn’t going to suddenly start living a normal life as an associate at Home Depot.
Lol here you go, THREE DAYS AGO:

A random violent assault by someone following a woman into her building, luckily she was able to get away on her own and then..

Vancouver police said they recommended that he be held in custody, however he was released by the courts with conditions and a promise to appear at an upcoming court date.
