To me it's always been a part of motorsports, especially in series with more open development like F1. I find some of the cheats themselves fascinating. The punishments aren't for me to decide, and I don't get worked up about their leniency or severity. I find the politicking and drama around the whole thing fun to watch.

I think that's a fascinating aspect of racing that has always been there, but if you're going to let teams do that, you might as well just give the championship to whichever team spends the most money.
