I don’t think that was the case.. if Miller had fetched the return most players putting up 99 points might have, he would’ve been moved. Personally, I believe he has a rep amongst the inner circle of GMs that hurt his trade value.
In 2014 Vigneualt threw him under the bus for seemingly having an entitled attitude:

Good for Miller lighting it up in a contract year and getting paid but there’s a reason for the cliché that leopards don’t change their spots.
All that said, if the Canucks weren’t winless through 6 this conversation likely wouldn’t be happening. If he was performing and wasn’t making bonehead plays we might be praising the decision to extend him.
