The core of this team needs a shake up big time.
The players need to made accountable for the team's record, and defensive play.
Jim Rutherford's constant criticism of the team's "loose" structure and absence of a defensive system to the media is just the veteran GM trying to protect his job.
It's easier for JR to put Boudreau under the bus and blame him and his assistant coaches for team's play than blaming it on your core players, like Miller etc.
That being said, Rutherford and Allvin deserve a big chunk of the blame for signing Miller to an extension, and not doing enough to get deals done to get our defence corps better and younger.
If the team really tanks hard this season, would Rutherford and Allvin have the guts to blow the team core and do a proper rebuild?
Trade Horvat before he becomes a free agent next summer? Trade Miller before his contract's no trade clause kicks after the end of this season?
How drastic a change would Rutherford and Allvin do if the team has a really bad season?
