Platinum'd GOW:R

Gameplay-wise, I would say it's the 2018 GOW, but with slightly improved graphics and combat system. If you played the first one, I don't think anything in this sequel will particularly blow your mind.

As I mentioned in the previous post, the best part about this game is the story and voice acting. It's just a masterpiece. There are some minor quips that I have with the story itself, but overall an excellent gaming experience and I was hooked all the way to the end.

Looking into the game development, it seems like it was delayed a few times due to COVID and then Christopher Judge needing surgery. I think if it was released in 2020/2021, it would be a shoo-in for GOTY. But for this year, I think it's going to be very tight against Elden Ring.

Having played both, each are excellent games that excels in different areas. Elden Ring excels in the gameplay aspect with larger areas, a more complex combat system with multiple weapon and build choices, and more varied monsters and bosses. GOW:R excels in telling a story through the lore, character development, and amazing voice acting.

I think it'll come down to what each judge values more. For me, I personally found GOW:R more enjoyable than Elden Ring.
