The girlfriend still uses a Nespresso which I could use (and have thought of), but I've been spoiled by the taste from my current machine that it tastes so watered down. Pods are also so expensive for what you get compared to whole beans.
I was thinking a super automatic would be a good compromise between taste and convenience for me and she could eventually migrate off of the Nespresso at the same time. |

Any how, for me, this whole journey of espresso/coffee developed as a curiosity and money-saving measure (I spent way too much money at coffee shops.) It grew into a passion so that became the demise of me.
When I'm at my parents place visiting in Vancouver, I will have a Nespresso but the caffeine content is way too high and its a weird feeling from it. My father-in-law gave me an unused early-model espresso machine (Ikon, I think?) and the thing fucking broke on the third day. Needless to say, it was not worth repairing and he had the last laugh.

I legitimately tried some in Los Angeles and without any intentions of offending anyone, it was, by far, and hands down, the worst coffee I have ever had haha
