It's worse than that for injuries. You only receive compensation for medical expenses and lost wages from not working. ICBC is the last payer when it comes to lost wages, so you have to use up sick days, vacation, and EI before they cover up to 90%. There is no compensation for pain and suffering or quality of life. The only way you can get anything for that is for you to sue the at fault driver, and that's only if they were criminally charged like a DUI. I found this all put the hard way and have encountered so many examples of people who are shit out of luck from life-altering injuries.
