It may have been experience talking.. the server had probably been asked for chopsticks before by Asians who she knew weren’t locals/regulars and perhaps thought it might be a nice touch? Probably should have asked though.. but you’re in Ft St John so that thoughtful level of service may simply not exist
I’m a white guy and prefer using chopsticks for my calamari. I’ll go out of my way to ask for them when I order it.. Asian utensils for a greek dish makes perfect sense to me!
The pasta on the other hand.. if it was spaghetti that might raise an eyebrow. Penne, fusilli, sure. Anything you can pick at, why not? I like myself some chopsticks.
That said, pho noodles are lengthy and I’d never dip a fork in that delicious broth.
