The first round of snow is expected on Thursday night, the agency says, with between 10 to 20 centimetres of accumulation expected. That snow will turn into rain as the temperature warms on Friday.

“The exact precipitation amounts and timing of the changeover to rain remain uncertain at this point, but there is a good consensus that the combination of impactful weather will begin early Friday,” ECCC said.

The agency warns the conditions may make travel difficult for some areas, with visibility likely to be reduced suddenly at times.

The winter storm watch also coincides with an Arctic Outflow warning that ECCC says will make things feel five to 10 degrees colder than seasonal normals Wednesday and Thursday.
