Honestly, 200K doesn't get you very far these days. That's like maybe 10-11K net per month, depending on whether one or both income earners have defined benefit pensions.
Housing costs these days can easily be 5-6K, which is like half that. Food could easily be 2-2.5K if you enjoy red meat and eating out several times a week. Add in a car payment or two, and there's not a lot of room after that.
