Lamar is a hell of a football player and that's his job, it's not an unreasonable conclusion that he isn't going to have the contacts or the time to seek out some of the more lucrative endorsement deals that an agent who does that day in and day out does.

He did end up getting a really good contract, he could have gotten the same contract with an agent minus the media circus and drama the last year, any money he paid to an agent would have been more than made up on the endorsement side. Sure Lamar has endorsements but no way to the same level he'd have with an agent, we can argue it but it's impossible for either of us to prove our side because he doesn't have an agent.

Why spend your time worrying about things like contracts when you can have someone do that for you and concentrate all your efforts on football. It doesn't make sense to me but you're right, Lamar is a different kind of dude and it makes sense to him.

Let me ask you this and it's not directly related to the contract but it's correlated, as a Ravens fan how did you feel about Lamar not showing up to the playoff game putting himself and his personal situation above his teammates when he's supposed to be the leader in that room? Second to that question, do you think that's something that most QB's in the league would do contract dispute or not?
I think the main point I'm making is the guy is different... The team has said so many times, respectfully. He obviously cares about money, but less obvious is how much he wants to do a bunch of endorsements and TV commercials.

Obviously he thought it was worth it to not have an agent, and the media circus didn't convince him otherwise, despite him acknowledging that issue. Does that make him an "idiot" or a "spoiled brat" or some other things I won't even repeat? I don't think so. Just different. More players are doing that anyway, and the fact that he got a contract with good money and good terms might convince more to do it this way.

As for him getting injured and not traveling with the team, just like any injured player, I am fine with that. Even though the media circus tried to make something out of it, including suggesting out of nowhere that he could have played, which I can imagine really pissed him off. He wasn't in a contract dispute at the time, he was playing on his rookie contract.
