Hello! So I took it around the block, rebleed the brakes and did a little trimming etc but noticed an odd starting issue. For a few days it acted like the brand new battery was dying. Would struggle to turn the bike over but by the next day it wouldn’t even start. Battery is full, I even tried other batteries.
So I got the multimeter out and traced the switch to relays to starter. Seems the 12v was getting to the starter but it wasn’t turning. Took the case off to confirm and even bench tested it, nothing. Popped it open to check the contacts and it was full of oil???? Wtf but yeah she was toast. Have ordered a new one and hopefully it works.
So instead I dug out the ‘87 gsxr 400 from storage and started looking over that bike. Could get it to turn over but not start (it did start and ran for 10 seconds but turned off and haven’t been able to get it started again.
But then someone odd happened, I got the exact same symptoms as my gsxr 600!! It would barely crank over just as if the battery was dead, then now it just clicks the relay and won’t turn over at all.
I have 3 batteries at home all fully charged, same symptoms across them all. But I find it so hard to believe that 2 bikes at home, 20 year age gap and both starters die in the same 2 days? So I went to my friends house and took his brand new confirmed good battery AND his lithium jump starter pack, tracked the wiring and once again in the exact way it just clicks the relay, I get full ~12v to the starter motor but no cranking. What the fuck is going on
