I've inquired into mesh guard as we have some serious pine needles problem, but the ultimate conclusion was that it's a waste of money.
You basically shift the clogging point from the pipe to the surface. So, even though pipes might not clog, the mesh itself would and you end up with either cracked mesh or water dripping right over the mesh.
Instead, invest in gears to clean gutters and clean often. When it comes to the gutter, the only solution is to clean it.
