I have been loosely following the TO mayoral byelection, and my impression was -- it wasn't quite a 2 horse race. Instead, it mostly became an election to determine whether it was something Chow would lose -- she had been the front runner by a comfortable margin for some time, and the end result suggested that there had been a bit of strategic voting to make the outcome a somewhat closer race, but it wasn't nearly enough to steal the job from Chow.
What surprised me though was Chris Saccoccia's results -- #9 in the total vote count. This guy is more widely recognized as "Chris Sky", a conspiracy theorist known for his involvement in the anti-mask, anti-lockdown, COVID-19 denial and anti-vaccine movements during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yes, he only got 1.1% of the vote, but IMO, that is 1.1% too much.
