Toronto might not be as pretty, or as livable as Vancouver, but if your goal is to become more financially independent then you might have to suck it up and move there.
North American runs on east coast time. Nobody caters towards west coast schedules (unless your business is only locally based). All my meetings are based on east coast time frames because they are the economic center and that should tell you where the money is.

Yeah there's definitely pros and cons to anywhere you choose to live but that's what life is all about. If everything went perfectly, life would feel pretty boring and unfulfilling. I've officially given up on pursuing housing in Vancouver. My goals in life fall into the atypical sector, which is why I'm looking at detached houses for sale in other provinces. With how much I've saved over the years in an attempt to pursue RE in Vancouver, I can easily get a nice sizeable house with land and space in AB (looking at Red Deer).
I was born in Vancouver and my roots are here but I get one life on this planet. May as well make it worth it.
