Have hiring practices changed and these establishments are simply adopting a full FTW style of hiring, only? If so, that's a definitive change.

Not enough kids.
Kids can't work during the day and late at night.
Kids don't need to work because there parents have money.
Fast food places in town hire kids but they are not reliable.
