Been trying to figure this out myself.
Mediocre looks, music is meh, voice talent is just fine, to me she's just bland like Wonderbread.
I don't understand how she's been elevated to this pedestal over the last few years here.
I think it's a mix of lack of massive pop acts in the industry nowadays (she's considered legacy in the pop world, shows how old we are now) combined with her popularity with teens.

I think that right there answers it. COVID put her over the edge with kids, and here we are.
I'd also add there seems to be a consorted industry effort to pump her up in the media, it's certainly not organic.
