One of the things that they teach you when you're new to tracking is to never brake on a Hill. The dip at Ridge or tire wall at Mission is one of those places. They tell you these things because they probably seen some shit.
I've been gaining some confidence trying different set ups and sending it harder. Coincidentally, since I had brought a bunch of people to event, one of the common questions was regarding track insurance and the answer is don't go full stupid. Well, I'm sure where you can guess where this is going. I've never been scientifically (physics) well-versed and well I fucked around and found out.
The go-to tip is to tap the brakes right before cresting Ebisu, but I decided to minimize my braking zone to cut time. So I was trying to carry more speed into it (left curb at 105), but ended up panic braking at the crest of Ebisu (~ 90). This shifted all the weight forward and because I was turning right, the entire rear end slid out and I went jumped straight off Ebisu from T7 back to T1.
Key Takeaway: Don't fucking brake cresting a hill. Always throttle out.
When I landed, the track marshal was like your front end is back there. I was pretty prepared to be super devastated. Fortunately, there was no significant damage to the car. I had Overdrive check out the car the next day and thankfully there was no structural or mechanical damage to the car. Nothing leaks, alignment wasn't even out of spec, just my ego and cosmetic damage: need a new front bumper, lip, underbody panels, and fender liners.
I've debated endlessly on posting this but since most of my cars are forever cars (unless written off), there's no point in not sharing it. I'm fortunate to have a group of friends that had my back when the incident happened. Hopefully I didn't scare Donk or J.C. from the track hahah.
