Xi3 does not have enough voids for PNW snow weather - it's designed for dry icy stuff. That's why it lasted so well, and did so well in the dry/wet (H speed rating vs the T of the Blizzak/VC7 etc) Hence if you look at the new stuff that Michelin put out, you can see the tread pattern has bigger sipes/voids and is more aggressive.
