One of my grouchy old coworkers drives around in a late '90s bare-bones 5-spd Tacoma he bought new like 25 years ago. He just uses it to get around town, and has never done anything remotely truck-stuff.
I asked him why he bought a truck, then. He shrugged and said it was the cheapest thing he could find on the lot. I looked it up and was mind-blown to find out that a base '97 Tacoma was
cheaper than a base Corolla of the same vintage.
Times have changed.
