For $1000 or whatever service costs, would you be choked if Rolex or Omega just took your existing movement, chucked it in the trash, and replaced it with a generic one?
I know for a while, Tudor was doing this to their movements when sent in for service, but only on certain models/movements.
For a few of my watches, I recently had them serviced by a local watchmaker and it's the usual disassemble, clean, oil and replace any worn parts sorta deal. Nomos wanted the equivalent of $1000+ CAD and an eight month turnaround time. I was like

and got it serviced locally for a fraction of the cost instead. Some of you are probably dying inside reading this but I don't often sell my watches so perceived devaluation is a non-problem.
