Off-topic: for ya'll sticking your kids in chinese school, are you doing canto or mandarin? I don't prefer mando but i'm not blind to the fact that China's like a rolling tank: in future mandarin's going be hella more useful. And at least, not getting turned away for a test drive like uncle EvoFire here.

We stick our 5 year old in a Cantonese class that's once a week for an hour - they practice writing and do some basic speaking exercises. We've also started watching Bluey in Cantonese and she actually likes it that way even though I doubt she understands even half of it.
The way they speak Cantonese makes me feel about mine as it's really obvious how terrible mine is when I hear theirs.
We did get accepted into Mandarin elementary school but it's a 30 min drive each way to get there so that's a No from me. We're sending her to French immersion instead and we hope she picks up enough Cantonese that eventually Mandarin won't be too hard for her to learn.
