I think you'll really enjoy a more modern Boxster or Cayman, but the drawback as you already know, is it's a 2-seater. The price point is not bad, but you can't fit your family in there.

I think a manual is a must-have - the PDK is incredible and is the first autobox that makes me consider giving up a manual but I still enjoy rowing my own even when it's in shitty rush hour traffic.
As for Boxster vs 911 - I love the mid-engine dynamics of the Boxster over the 911 but the practicality of the 911 is pretty great in my use case. I've told the wife that there are going to be trips where it's daddy/daughter and no mom if it's the Boxster I get and she's just going to have to live with that.
As for seeing your car - that'll have to wait, still at Disneyland.
